I happened by Handsell yesterday because of the route I chose from Laurel, DE to Vienna, MD. What a wonderful surprise. So much history dating back to the first settlements after Jamestown and Accomack. I did not know about the Chicone Indian Reservation. Laurel Delaware’s history is that an Indian reservation existed along Broad Creek and a marker in Laurel identifies a spot thought to be “The Wading Place” used by the local tribe. The replica of what was called “The Long House” I’ve seen in documents and books and was so excited to see a replica. I can’t wait to revisit and watch the progress! This is just great.
